Petal Power 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

My garden features lots of pink, and lots of green … far too much as much of the green at the moment is weeds.

However, in virtual and real quilts I can limit the amount of green, and I love the results.

Less blocks, smaller quilt unless the blocks are enlarged, but still pretty.

A Spoonful of Sugar 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

Very dainty, very pretty and I love it, though not for me!

More of the same, and still love it. I seem to have a purple fetish of late, perhaps because August was my Mum’s birth month, and now it is September and a great month to play in the garden which Mum loved to do. In addition, one of her favourite flowers is currently in bloom in the garden, and yes, it is a purple one!

Very pretty.

Almost the same, but I like the one block change!

Quilted Border Beauties 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

Pretty and dainty.

Because I share my bed with my husband this is not the sort of design or colour combination I could use on our bed, but I can design as many of this style and colouring as I like.

I have never lived with an indoor cat but every so often one gets to admire my quilt designs.

Ann’s Album Q ‘n’ A 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

Love today’s designs, but my favourite of the two is the first!

Love the quilting motifs more in the second one.

Kelly’s Custom Quilts 33, 34 from Virtual Quilter

Oh, so dainty! Love it!

Love the second one too, partly because only the background fabric has been changes for some blocks.

Strawberry Fete 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Looks delicious … my favourite fruit!

Thank goodness strawberry season is approaching, though it feels as though it is moving very slowly!

Must stock up on ice-cream just in case there is a sudden burst of warm weather!

Hearts Growing 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Pretty.

More prettiness. I love the colours in this project file, which reflects the colours I like most in my garden, and most other gardens. Flowers of pink, purple, blue and white, with green leaves. Unfortunately there are usually green weeds too!

Ferns and Flora 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

Very dainty! Lots of room for some dainty quilting motifs!

The second design is still rather dainty, and there ARE quilting motifs filling the spaces.

Anna Karena 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

I love the sashing in this design. I rarely use sashing in my designs, though in many of the quilts I have made I have used sashing, but not one as interesting as the one shown above.

I like the border on the second design, but am asking myself what if I make some changes of scale of the end elements?

PS I apologize for not posting this earlier, but I had a few other things I wanted to do and forgot, but I did get those other things done!

Brandis Street Blocks 21 from Virtual Quilter

I love this collection of blocks which were inspired by an old scrap of linoleum found at the bottom of a drawer.

A lot of the shapes could make rather nice embroidery designs as well as the applique and quilting motifs I have used them for.

Fiddlebobs OP 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

Pretty colours, dainty shapes, and interesting design,

Love some of the lines created by the quilting motifs in both designs.

Felicity Anderson Q’n’A 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

I wonder how easy, or hard, it would be to do a really big applique block?

It could be very impressive when complete, but getting it done could create some problems.

Many more applique blocks with an interesting result, though the quilting is a bit boring, apart from hose eight quilted versions of applique blocks.

Abigail Bolton Design 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

I am always fascinated by the variety of designs I find by playing with the shapes used in a block design. There are over fifty variations in this block file which need some sorting to put them in order, but it much more fun playing with the block designs in quilt designs than sorting them!

Of course, the block designs can also be turned into quilting motifs.

Fine Iron Lace Q and A 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

I always have to look hard at the iron lace decorating old buildings, and have been guilty of driving around the block to find a parking spot so I can have a better look, and maybe take a photo, several times.

The designs in this project file, and several others I have filed away, have some applique, and some quilting motifs based on the applique designs in the project along with some blank spaces. In a real quilt I would fill in those blank spaces with quilting in a thread colour which matches the background fabric, while the quilting design ...

Iron Lace Borders Q’n’A 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

Lots of room for background fillers, though the quilted border shown would be in a thread to match the applique colour.

Minimal applique, but with the added quilting I think it would have maximum effect.

Patricia’s Patches Quilted 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

I love the first design … sort of old fashioned but not a copy of the old styles.

Neither of today’s designs have pieced blocks, though others in the project file do.

Love the second one too.

EQ Dozen + Quilting 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

EQ Dozen was the first project file I opened so I could play with a small collection of blocks … it grew to a dozen blocks selected from the Electric Quilt 5 library, and over the years it has been updated to new versions of the program, but the blocks are still the same old blocks.

The collection of projects has grown as I added sashing and quilting motifs, but the block collection is unchanged, though a few have been modified slightly, and in this file some of them have become quilting motifs..

The first design today is a bit busy ...

Felicity Anderson Quilts 43, 44 from Virtual Quilter

I like these designs, but in close up detail the applique is just a little too detailed for anything but fused!

Love the second design.
